Ute Mountain Ute Farm & Ranch Enterprise
Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Farm & Ranch Enterprise is a 7,700 acre productive, modern irrigated agricultural project nestled below the Sleeping Ute Mountain on Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Land in the southwest corner of Colorado. State of the art equipment and modern technology are used to successfully operate this market-oriented agricultural enterprise.
At the base of the legendary sleeping ute mountain, between the Four Corners National Monument and Mesa Verde National Park lies a beautiful reservation known as the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe.
In the desert lies a 7,700 acre irrigated farm owned and operated by the tribe. Established in 1962, the Bow and Arrow Brand now proudly produces safe, quality products to feed the family that you love.
As good stewards of the land, we practice sustainable farming and use state of the art technology to grow and mill our corn without GMOs. We also raise cattle, wheat, alfalfa, and more.
Crops & Livestock
Care is taken in selection of good hybrid varieties of corn that thrive in this climate. Farm & Ranch has consistently ranked high in both state and national corn yield contests sponsored by the National Corn Growers Association. A modern 240,000 bushel storage facility enables Farm & Ranch to store and market grains as market situations become favorable.
A majority of the farm has been dedicated to the production of alfalfa for hay. Farm & Ranch Enterprise has an excellent reputation for producing and delivering very high quality alfalfa hay. All alfalfa hay produced is tested for quality enabling the customer to receive exactly what was ordered. Alfalfa bales are 3/4 ton 3x4x8 foot bales and are either stored in hay barns or under tarps immediately after baling.
Hard red winter wheat is included in the crop rotation. Good soil and good water enable the production of high yielding high quality wheat. The on-farm storage gives Farm & Ranch the ability to quickly harvest the crop and to take advantage of ever changing market conditions.
The Bow & Arrow cattle herd is kept at around 700 cows and bred heifers. All of the cows are black or black baldies and are bred to Black Angus or Black Gelbvieh bulls. The herd pastures in the mountain mesa country in the summer and on the farm project in the winter. Much time and effort is spent in the care and management of this high quality herd.
